This project featured a Model T-2350 cooling tower installed at a commercial or industrial facility in Oceanside, California, a coastal city in northern San Diego County.
The T-2350 is part of our T-2 model line of counterflow induced draft FRP cooling towers, and it’s CTS’s heaviest standard-line round tower at 9,962 lbs operating weight. At 350 nominal tons and 188 5/8″ diameter, it delivers large-scale process or HVAC cooling for industrial plants, data centers, or large commercial campuses.
Oceanside’s coastal location brings two unique installation considerations. First, salt-laden marine air accelerates corrosion on metallic components, a key reason the customer selected CTS’s FRP (fiberglass-reinforced plastic) construction, which offers natural resistance to coastal corrosion without special coatings. Second, California’s Title 24 and local water district regulations governing cooling tower drift and water use required documentation of drift eliminator specifications during permitting.
The assembly team worked with a CTS factory-trained crew to sequence the rigging and structural assembly of this large tower safely, given its significant dead and operating weight. Final commissioning included fan pitch adjustment for optimal airflow and verification of basin water level and float valve operation.
